Senior Hardware Engineer - Azure Core

Azure storage holds Exabytes of data and Azure compute hosts applications from the largest businesses, through governments to retail and startups. To keep up with the requirements of tomorrow’s digital data processing, our team is designing and implementing new FPGA-based accelerators. You’ll be working with motivated, diverse, and exceptionally creative people to design these FPGA accelerators and bring them to production in the cloud. Your responsibilities will include designing, coding, and testing FPGA logic in simulations and in the lab. You will collaborate with hardware verification, software validation and architecture teams and you’ll be expected to drive new designs as well as support and optimize existing hardware.

Candidate Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 7+ years RTL/Verilog development
  • Proven track record of successful, complex RTL designs
  • Good understanding or chip development lifecycle
  • Ability to script in Python, or equivalent scripting language
  • Excellent communications skills and good ability to communicate in English


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FPGA development on Altera (Intel PSG) or Xilinx devices
  • Hands on experience with FPGA debug tools (JTAG, SignalTap/LogicAnalyzer)
  • Knowledge in networking
  • Ability to code in C or C++
